The Children’s Liturgy is an important part of Parish life and has been running for at least ten years. It runs every Sunday during the 10.30 am Mass, except during school holidays.
Helpers deliver planned activities to explain the Gospel to younger members of the congregation during the 10.30 Mass.
A children’s version of the Gospel is read, and then discussed in a way that is relevant to the age group, using games, drama, pictures, stories and songs. Other activities include colouring, craftwork, word searches and crosswords.
All sessions are pre-planned and the resources are provided.
Helpers work to a rota, and usually undertake one session each half-term. Any newcomers will be supported by experienced helpers. All helpers meet once a year to discuss and share their experiences.
